As our work days are getting longer, we should all take the time to think how we can make small tweaks to our routines to make them healthier days. Here's our top tips:

  1. Try to eat healthy all day long. Make sure you start your day with breakfast and this should be your most hearty meal. You should then continue to eat healthily throughout the day to avoid productivity levels dropping. Regular snacks like fruit are good in between meals. Drink plenty of water and limit your intake of caffeine. Research has also shown that eating lunch away from your desk can also help.
  2. Make sure you get up and move. Sitting down for the whole day is not good for you so it is important to take frequent breaks. All you need is five minutes every once in a while.
  3. Set up an ergonomic workspace. Sitting at your desk all day can cause havoc with your wrists, back, neck and other parts of your body. Make sure you set up your workspace properly practising good posture and positioning your keyboard and mouse properly and a good office chair will be a wise investment.
  4. Fit more exercise into your schedule. Doing more exercise in you day will ensure you stay healthy and keep your energy levels up. Working out at work can be tough so try to plan exercise into your weekly schedule, think of it as a meeting in your diary that you can’t afford to miss.
  5. Don’t work hard, work smart. Working hard at work can cause stress, which can lead to health issues. You should teach yourself how to use your time more efficiently, doing the most important work during your most productive hours.
  6. Get a good night’s rest. It all starts and ends with a greats night’s sleep. This helps to repair and restore the body’s vitality and over the next day will lead to improved concentration and energy levels.
